Many studies; no final painting. Aimed at the critics after Exhibition 1, especially Howard Ashton. Hinder had a Chinese proverb in mind “Too many people look at paintings through their ears (figures on right). All noise and doesn’t see anything (open mouth). The other one doesn’t see anything anyway.” FCH
